Yamaha outboard 175 hp - Powerful 4-stroke engine with EFI system
Power drive redefined: The 175hp impresses with its unique performance, pulling power, efficiency and smooth running. Added to this is the innovative drive-by-wire technology for ultra-smooth gear changes. The fuel-saving EFI injection system, the advanced ECU microprocessor, the environmentally friendly combustion technology and the efficient noise reduction are perfectly coordinated. In addition, like all EFI engines, the state-of-the-art outboard can be connected directly to our exclusive network system with a wide range of digital measuring instruments.
And the sophisticated Yamaha diagnostic system with computer connection enables quick and easy maintenance at any time.
2.8-liter DOHC 4-cylinder with 16 valves and EFI
This full-blooded engine offers outstanding combustion efficiency across the entire rev range, with features such as EFI, 4 valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshafts (DOHC). Combined, these modern technologies ensure an outstanding horsepower yield from every liter of fuel with an ideal power-to-weight ratio.
Thanks to the specially cranked crankshaft, a compact design was achieved
We have designed the 175hp as an ultra-compact engine, with the cranked crankshafts and the gear-driven balancer shafts representing just two of the technical advantages that our engineers have realized. Thanks to a special exhaust system with a watertight outer wall, the engine is also extremely quiet.
New drive-by-wire system - for smooth control
The new 175hp (C) version now features the drive-by-wire function - a digital throttle and shifting system, which enables ultra-smooth shifting and a new type of sophisticated boat control and operation.
DNG digital instruments
The 175hp is compatible with Yamaha's DNG digital gauges (6Y8/6YC/6Y9 and the new CL7), which give you all the information you need to monitor performance and efficiency, such as RPM, hours, tilt angle, oil pressure and warning lights. The combined speed/fuel management display reports speed, fuel level and fuel efficiency.
Variable trolling speed
Another function of the optional digital LAN system is the practical switch, which allows the engine speed to be regulated immediately . This makes it easy and convenient to set the speed in the range of 650 to 900 rpm in steps of 50 rpm. The result: effortless and relaxed cruising.
SDS (Shift Dampener System)
Yamaha's patented SDS damping for easy gear changes, first introduced in our larger V8 and V6 models , eliminates typical shifting noises. A toothed pulley and a toothed rubber hub absorb noise and vibrations. This sophisticated solution enables smooth and quieter gear changes.
Optional electronic anti-theft device (Y-COP®) from Yamaha
Yamaha's unique electronic anti-theft device (Y-COP®) is simple and extremely effective: A compact and easy-to-use remote control locks and unlocks the engine at the touch of a button. This keeps your outboard motor safe from unauthorized joyrides, and you can leave your boat at the dock with a clear conscience .
