Error codes for Torqeedo electric motors

Error codes for Torqeedo electric motors General information and details on the meaning of the errors have been prepared. Torqeedo is a German company that manufactures electric marine engines. The company’s goal is to enable environmentally friendly and quiet navigation by offering electric solutions in the maritime industry. Here is the basic information about Torqeedo:

  1. Electric marine engines: Torqeedo produces electric outboard engines, inboard engines and battery systems for the marine industry. These engines can be used as an alternative to gasoline or diesel engines.
  2. Environmentally friendly: Torqeedo engines are environmentally friendly compared to conventional combustion engines. They produce no emissions and release no pollutants into the marine environment.
  3. Quiet cruising: Electric motors are much quieter than combustion engines. This can make the sailing experience more pleasant.
  4. High efficiency: Torqeedo motors enable long-distance trips thanks to more efficient energy utilization.
  5. Different models and performance: Torqeedo offers a variety of models for boats of different sizes. These models can have different power levels and battery capacities.
  6. Integrated battery systems: Torqeedo also produces its own batteries. These batteries determine the operating time of your motor.
  7. Control and monitoring: Torqeedo motors provide their users with smartphone applications or other digital tools for monitoring and controlling motor performance.
  8. Scope of application: Torqeedo motors can be used for various types of vessels, from sailing boats to small motorboats.

Torqeedo is a major player in environmentally friendly shipping and a leader in electric marine engines. However, before making a motor selection, it is important to consult an expert, taking into account your technical requirements, usage habits and budget.

Torqeedo engine error codes

Error Code Description & Possible Fix
E02 Motor overheats Motor can be used again after a short waiting time (approx. 10 minutes). Contact Torqeedo Service
E03 Motor tilted during operation The motor can be used again after it has been tilted and pressed on/off.
E04 Drive command with tilted motor The motor can be driven again after tilting from the stop position.
E05 Motor/propeller blocked Disconnect the motor cable from the battery. Release the blockage and turn the propeller one turn by hand. Plug the motor cable back in
E06 Voltage in motor too low Low battery charge level. Motor can be used again slowly from the stop position.
E07 Motor overcurrent Continue with low power. Contact Torqeedo Service.
E08 Overheating of the circuit board Motor can be used again after a short waiting time (approx. 10 minutes). Contact Torqeedo Service.
E21 Remote choke calibration defective – Recalibrate: Press the “cal” button for 10 seconds. – The display shows “cal up”: Push the remote throttle lever forward to full throttle and then press the “cal” button. – The display shows “cal stp”: Move the remote throttle lever to the middle position (stop) and then press the “cal” button. – The display shows “cal dn”: Press the remote throttle lever backwards to full throttle and then press the “cal” button.
E22 Magnetic sensor defective Recalibrate (see E21).
E23 Value range incorrect Recalibrate (see E21).
E30 Motor communication error Check the plug connection of the motor cable. Check the motor cable for damage.
E32 Communication error remote throttle lever Check the connections of the remote throttle lever. Check the cable.
E33 Internal error – Overcurrent of the 5V bus/USB supply – > Check the cable of the tiller/remote throttle, remove additional devices such as TorqTrac and the USB port, and switch the system on/off. – Error is displayed immediately after switching on the battery and can be reset by the tiller/remote throttle. -> Parameter error, error in EEPROM. Contact the Torqeedo Service Center.
E36 Overvoltage battery/motor If the boat is powered by another party (towing the boat, sailing, operation with another motor), the propeller must be removed from the water. If the fault occurs during/after charging the battery, contact the Torqeedo Service Center.
E41 Charging voltage too high / charging current too high If the error occurs despite the use of a Torqeedo power supply unit, contact the Torqeedo Service Center.
E42 Mains fuse defective The battery only starts when the charging cable is plugged in. Contact the Torqeedo Service Center.
E43 Battery empty Charge battery. The motor can be restarted slowly from the stop position.
E45 Battery overcurrent Switch the engine off and on again. If this error occurs, the battery status display and the range display may no longer function until the battery is fully charged again.
E46 Battery operating temperature error Battery cells outside the operating temperature between -20°C and +60°C (-4°F and +140°F). The motor can be used again when the temperature has stabilized.
E48 Charging temperature error Allow battery to cool down; the charging process will continue if the cell temperature is between 0°C and +45°C (32°F and 113°F).
E49 Battery is completely discharged Contact Torqeedo Service Center. Other error codes Faulty Contact the Torqeedo Service Center and inform them of the error code. No display/no flashing during the charging process Battery is not charging then contact the Torqeedo Service Center.
The codes generally provide information on what to do if you receive an error message. Error codes provide information on avoiding engine damage, correct use and technical problems.
